About Tehachapi: Located approximately 120 miles to the
north-east of Los Angeles between Bakersfield and Mojave, Tehachapi
has a delightfully rural atmosphere yet with plenty of cultural events
and interesting places to visit within easy reach. The City was
incorporated in 1909 and named after the local Tehachapi Mountains.
The population has been most recently estimated at 36,000 including
the outlying areas. Horse Ranches
as well as homes on large properties are common in the rolling
countryside surrounding the city. A wide variety of flora
and fauna can be found here including the famous California Poppy,
Quail, Mojave green rattlesnake, mountain lion, bobcat, deer and wild
boar to name just a few.
